How BankID Norway (Stø) saves millions on Account Recovery
BankID Norway enables residents of Norway to use a digital ID based on their physical identity documents to access various services.
With the previous method of account recovery, if the user wanted to reset their password, the process of waiting for a contact centre agent and answering security questions took an average time of 10 minutes - costly for both the user and the banks.
Introducing ReadID for account recovery has lead to a 35% drop in the total number of calls to contact centres for account recovery in Q4 of 2024. The projected annual savings by enabling self-service account recovery with ReadID are €11 million, creating a clear business case for NFC-based identity verification.
